My name is Timothy Thierfelder.
I am the mentor of robotics. I also run the summer robotics camp. I have been mentoring robotics since we started in 2006. Robotics is a hands on use of our science and mathematics classes. This activity allows students to experience a long term open ended design problem. More than any other activity in high school robotics challenges the students in a real life production challenge. Since students spend 4-5 months on this one problem, using real materials, computer programming, 3-D CAD design, cell phone App creation, WIFI direct, Vuforia camera automated driving systems, the experience is richly related to future careers in many areas. All of this is FUN and gives us a chance to use our talents to the glory of God. The greatest part of robotics is to be able to work with fellow Christians towards a common design goal. Teaching and learning new technologies is very fulfilling. As God directed in Genesis, we are to subdue to earth. Robotics goes a long way in fulfilling this directive over a broad spectrum of disciplines. Outside of robotics, I also teach Algebra and Computer Science Principles at Wisco.
